Ocean Pines just might be the Delmarva’s yard sale capital. You’ll find clusters of signs up and down Ocean Parkway most weekends, especially during the summer and early fall. Most sales end by noon, so you can shop all morning and still hit the Ocean Pines Farmer’s Market before it closes at 1 p.m. Use these tips to make the most of your time.
1. Plan your attack. Most people put their yard sale signs out the day before. Drive along Ocean Parkway early Friday evening to see where sales are being held, and then enter the addresses into Google Maps to plan a route.
2. Start early. Yard sales begin as early as 7 a.m., and serious buyers show up first thing to grab the best items.
3. Bring plenty of change. Dollar bills and quarters keep you from skipping or overpaying sellers who can’t make change.
4. Don’t be afraid to bargain. The worst they can say is “no.”
5. Have snacks and water on hand. Gotta keep your energy up to hunt down those great bargains!
